Travelers at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra can now use a new 24/7 luggage storage facility introduced by Coreaxis Ltd Ghana.

The service, designed for both tourists and business travelers, allows passengers to securely store their bags while exploring Accra or awaiting connecting flights. Located within the airport, the facility offers short- and long-term storage with flexible, affordable pricing.

Equipped with advanced security systems, surveillance, and trained staff, it ensures peace of mind for users. The initiative is expected to ease travel stress, boost Accra’s tourism and business appeal, and strengthen KIA’s reputation as a modern international gateway. It also aligns with Ghana’s broader efforts to improve travel infrastructure and attract more visitors, marking a significant step toward modernization in the country’s tourism sector.

Ghana’s former Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Catherine Afeku, has been appointed Brand Ambassador for Africa by the World Tourism Forum Institute (WTFI)

The appointment, signed by WTFI President Bulut Bağcı, recognizes her leadership, global influence, and commitment to driving tourism as a tool for economic growth, job creation, and cultural exchange.

As Brand Ambassador, she will promote Africa as a hub for tourism-driven investment and help position hospitality as a pillar of the continent’s economic transformation. Afeku recalled her first engagement with the Forum in 2017 in Turkey, where her presentation on Ghana’s tourism potential led to Ghana hosting the first-ever World Tourism Forum Africa Summit, featuring global stakeholders, including former UK Finance Minister Jack Straw.

Ghana is set to host the Inter Tourism Expo 2025, themed “Cultures Connecting: Fostering Tourism Exchange and Understanding.”

The event will bring together tourism boards, travel operators, hospitality providers, cultural institutions, and policymakers to promote cultural exchange while driving business opportunities.

Delegates will explore heritage circuits, coastal leisure packages, M.I.C.E. facilities, and tech-driven tourism solutions. By blending storytelling with structured business forums, the expo aims to strengthen Ghana’s tourism networks, attract global investment, and enhance sustainable growth, positioning the country as a leading destination for cultural tourism and international partnerships.

A key highlight will be the Youth & Innovation Pavilion, dedicated to showcasing startups, young innovators, and creative entrepreneurs.

This pavilion will spotlight digital tools, travel technology, and new business models, offering visibility, networking, and partnership opportunities for emerging businesses. It is expected to serve as a hub for knowledge exchange, empowering youth to shape the future of tourism with innovative solutions while boosting Ghana’s presence in the global tourism market.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has reported that global air travel demand in July 2025 surged by 12% compared to the same period last year, driven largely by increased traffic in Asia-Pacific and Africa.
Analysts say the rebound is fueled by strong leisure and business travel, with international routes exceeding pre-pandemic levels for the first time.

Europe and North America remain top destinations, while emerging markets in Africa and the Middle East are gaining attention due to expanded flight connectivity and new tourism investments. Industry experts predict that if the trend continues, 2025 could mark the strongest year for international tourism growth in over a decade.
