Being the best Metropolitan, Municipal, or District Chief Executive (MMDCE) in Ghana means translating leadership into measurable improvements in education and healthcare. It involves ensuring that schools are well-equipped, students have access to quality learning, and health facilities provide efficient, accessible services for all residents. The best MMDCEs actively implement policies and initiatives that uplift communities, recognizing that the health and education of citizens are key to sustainable development.

Recent performance indicators reveal standout achievements by several MMDCEs across the country. In the Greater Accra Region, the Korle-Klottey Municipality has emerged as a top performer, achieving 96.7% in education and 99.9% in health, ranking first nationally. The MMDCE’s administration has prioritized the renovation of school infrastructure, provision of teaching and learning materials, and expansion of community health programs, ensuring residents enjoy high-quality education and accessible healthcare.

In the Upper East Region, the Tempane District has shown impressive commitment to public welfare, registering 32.5% in education and 98.2% in health, placing second nationally in health delivery. The district’s leadership has implemented community health outreach programs and initiatives aimed at increasing school enrollment and attendance, particularly in rural areas, improving both educational and health outcomes for its population.

The Ayawaso North Municipality in Greater Accra has also recorded remarkable results, with 37.8% in education and 97.7% in health, ranking third in national health performance. The municipality’s MMDCE has focused on enhancing student learning experiences, providing public health education, and ensuring health facilities are well-staffed and equipped, directly improving the quality of life for residents.

These examples illustrate that the most effective MMDCEs are those who combine strategic planning, resource mobilization, and community engagement. By delivering tangible results in education and healthcare, they set benchmarks for other districts, proving that strong local leadership can transform communities and empower citizens for a brighter future.
