InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announces plans to open  new 700-room InterContinental Hotel on Orlando’s International Drive, set for completion in 2028

Ghana’s hospitality industry contributes to employment, foreign exchange, and cultural exchange but faces structural and operational challenges, including fragmentation, financial constraints, lack of reliable data, inconsistent service standards, and vulnerability to global shocks.

The creation of the Tourism Chamber, Ghana (TCG), is proposed as a solution to unify stakeholders, strengthen advocacy, improve access to finance, establish a research and data hub, enforce standardization, and build crisis management systems.

By doing so, the TCG will drive competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience, positioning itself as the backbone of Ghana’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Western Serene Atlantic Hotel, a flagship of the First Sky Group, has appointed Mercy Abena Twumwaa Asubonteng as General Manager effective September 1, 2025.

With over 20 years of experience in hospitality, she previously served as Acting GM and has held senior roles in food & beverage, banqueting, and marketing.

CEO of Serene Hotels & Resorts, Rhoda Ashiabi, praised her leadership and vision, noting that her appointment aligns with the goal of positioning the hotel among West Africa’s top 5-star establishments within three years.

The National Theatre has signed an MoU with Accra City Hotel to promote Ghanaian culture through weekly performances for guests. The partnership will feature the National Drama Company, National Dance Company, and National Symphony Orchestra, showcasing Ghana’s diverse cultural heritage.

The agreement, witnessed by leaders of both institutions, aims to strengthen collaboration between the arts and hospitality sectors while boosting cultural tourism.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to open a new 700-room InterContinental Hotel on Orlando’s International Drive, set for completion in 2028.

The property will be one of the largest in the brand’s global portfolio, featuring extensive meeting spaces, luxury dining options, and a resort-style pool complex.

Designed to cater to both leisure and business travelers, the development reflects growing demand in the U.S. hospitality sector and reinforces. Orlando’s position as a premier global tourism and convention destination.
