Ivan Quashigah, CEO of Farmhouse Productions, has been appointed Chairman of the National Film Authority’s newly inaugurated board, tasked with regulating, promoting, and supporting Ghana’s film industry.
The appointment, made by the President under the Development and Classification of Film Act (Act 935), was announced at the board’s inauguration on August 4, 2025.
Quashigah, a NAFTI-trained director and scriptwriter with an Executive Master’s in Governance and Leadership from GIMPA, is a leading figure in Ghana’s creative industry.
Renowned theatre director George Quaye will stage Wole Soyinka’s classic play Death and the King’s Horseman at the National Theatre in Accra this August, with performances on August 23, 24, 30 and 31.
Presented in collaboration with the National Theatre, Image Bureau and April Communications, and sponsored by Stanbic Bank, Bills Savings & Loans, The Luckiest and MTN, the production explores themes of duty, tradition and the clash between indigenous culture and colonial influence.
Quaye promises a world-class performance featuring exceptional acting, innovative set design, and high-quality lighting and sound, offering audiences a cultural experience that reflects on African identity and legacy.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has reached a major milestone by surpassing one million open rooms worldwide, reflecting the continued global demand for its diverse hotel brands.
The achievement comes as the hospitality industry experiences renewed growth, with luxury hotel chains also expanding into the branded residences market in regions such as India, where high-end developments from groups like Marriott, ITC, Wyndham and Radisson are catering to affluent buyers seeking lifestyle-integrated real estate.
At the same time, industry leaders are preparing for the Global Conference on Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management in Budapest on August 14, 2025, which will provide a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Meanwhile, corporate incentive travel has seen a post-pandemic resurgence, with companies offering lavish experiences ranging from private concerts to cultural adventures, though some are opting for more immersive and less extravagant alternatives due to rising costs.
Despite these growth trends, challenges remain in certain markets, as seen in the UK where popular cocktail chain Simmons has collapsed into administration, closing multiple venues amid mounting financial pressures.
