The upcoming mini Hogbetsotso festival, also known as Hogbeza, is set to be a significant and vibrant cultural celebration in Dzelukope, Keta.

This festival is a rotating event among the Anlo towns, allowing all 36 states within the Anlo community to experience the migratory festival.

One notable highlight of this year’s mini Hogbetsotso festival is the presence of former President John Dramani Mahama, who will be the Special Guest of Honour at the event. This announcement has generated significant excitement and anticipation among the attendees and the local community.

Mr. Sedziafa, Secretary to the Mini Hogbeza Local Planning Committee, confirmed the former President’s participation, emphasizing that all necessary protocols were followed to extend the invitation. The festival organizers expect a gathering of not only distinguished sons and daughters of the land but also guests from other parts of Ghana and beyond.

The festival’s theme, “Harnessing our Cultural Heritage for Local Community Development,” underscores its commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Anlo community. One of the key objectives of the event is to initiate the establishment of a modern community library in Dzelukope Township, reflecting their dedication to education and community development.

The festival schedule includes a series of exciting activities leading up to the main event on Saturday. These activities comprise a candlelight procession through the streets of Keta, a health walk, and a live band musical concert on Friday evening. The main event, the mini durbar, will take place on Saturday morning at Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) Park, featuring traditional performances, cultural displays, and speeches from dignitaries.

The mini Hogbetsotso durbar will be held under the distinguished patronage of Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, Awadada of Anlo for the Awoamefia, with the support of Togbi Gbordzor III, Dusifiaga of Anlo and Paramount Chief of Fugo Traditional Area, as well as Togbi Dzelu IV, Chairman of the Local Planning Committee.

The celebration promises to be a vibrant and culturally enriching event, highlighting the Anlo community’s commitment to preserving its heritage and fostering local development. The presence of former President John Dramani Mahama as the Special Guest of Honour further adds to the significance of the festival.
