Rex Owusu Marfo, Coordinator for the Blackstar Experience, has revealed plans for a multi-million dollar, Hollywood-standard film studio in Ghana named Ananse Studios. The investment, led by private capital, will include an educational facility and is expected to break ground this year. He made the announcement during the launch of the Blackstar Experience on May 1, 2025, at the Blackstar Square in Accra.
The initiative, a flagship government programme for tourism, arts, and culture, will also feature events such as international football legends’ matches, Ghana Music Week, Creative Connect, and Detty December. Marfo highlighted upcoming international collaborations, including with Atlanta’s Blackstar Week, to promote Ghanaian talent and creative products.

Speaking to GNA Entertainment, Fancy Gadam expressed excitement about sharing the stage with Shatta Wale for the first time in Tamale, expecting fans from across the northern regions to witness the event.
Presented by 5M Music, tickets are priced at GH¢50 for regular and GH¢100 for VIP. Additional performers will be announced soon. The Honourable Johnny Ford, Founder of the World Conference of Mayors (WCM), has announced plans to make Ghana the African Headquarters of the global mayors’ network, following a partnership with Ghana-based RAIN Foundations.
The announcement was made at a historic event held in Tuskegee, Alabama, from May 1 to 3, attended by international dignitaries. Author Ralph, founder of RAIN, delivered a keynote stressing values such as legacy and conviction-driven leadership. A formal motion was passed by WCM President Jimmie Gardner to solidify the partnership. Both organisations will co-host the National Youth Shakers Conclave & Awards on June 19.
Marriott International has announced the opening of a new Ritz-Carlton hotel in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, as part of its continued expansion in the Middle East’s luxury hospitality sector.
The hotel is set within the UNESCO World Heritage site of At-Turaif and features architecture inspired by traditional Najdi design.
With over 100 rooms and suites, fine dining restaurants, a luxury spa, and event spaces, the hotel is expected to play a central role in the Diriyah Gate Development Authority’s (DGDA) vision of transforming the area into a global tourism destination. This move further cements Marriott’s commitment to investing in Saudi Arabia’s booming hospitality industry.
