Lawyer Sulley Sambian, Acting CEO of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), has firmly denied social media allegations of land sales, vehicle auctions, and missing assets. Addressing concerns, he labeled the accusations as baseless but chose to respond out of respect for the public.
On alleged land sales, Sambian clarified that while exploring partnerships to develop the NDA’s Cantonments property, they discovered missing land title documents. He also dismissed claims of selling Tamale lands. Regarding the disappearance of 24 motorbikes, he revealed that stock-taking uncovered the issue, leading to police reports and arrests, while investigations continue.
Sambian assured the public that the procurement and sale of tricycles followed due process, stressing that neither he nor the board chairman had ties to the supplier. He also refuted claims of a missing Toyota Hilux, explaining that it was already assigned to the chairman before his tenure. On vehicle auctions, he confirmed the process was initiated and properly conducted.

President John Mahama has ordered the Lands Commission to suspend all activities related to the sale, lease, or processing of State and Public Lands.
The directive aims to preserve these lands for future generations and mandates a halt to all ongoing and pending transactions for a comprehensive review of their management.
The Lands Commission has been instructed to submit a detailed report on recent and ongoing transactions to the President’s office within 14 days.
Spain plans to introduce a tax of up to 100% on the value of properties purchased by non-residents from countries outside the EU, including the UK. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez described the measure as “unprecedented” and essential to address the country’s housing crisis.
Speaking at an economic forum in Madrid, Sánchez emphasized the need to prevent Western societies from becoming divided into “rich landlords and poor tenants.”He highlighted that in 2023, non-EU residents bought 27,000 properties in Spain, often as investment opportunities rather than homes.
