Oman’s Hospitality Sector Thrives with New Luxury Hotel Openings
The Green Africa Youth Organisation (GAYO), in collaboration with JoyNews and the Climate Development Knowledge Network, is launching the Green Film Festival Accra to promote environmental sustainability.
The festival, themed “Stories Spark Change,” aims to inspire action against climate change and wildlife conservation through compelling narratives that highlight the relationship between human activities and the environment.
Scheduled for October 25th and 26th at the Legon Botanical Gardens, the festival will feature a diverse program, including morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, with outdoor movie screenings in the evenings. Out of 1,800 film submissions, 44 curated films will be showcased.
The event will also host workshops, panel discussions, and special screenings to raise awareness and encourage actionable change regarding critical social and environmental issues.
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has mandated that all food service establishments must seek approval for their advertisements by December 1, 2024. Failure to obtain valid approval violates FDA advertising guidelines and the Public Health Act of 2012.
The law prohibits advertising food products without FDA approval, and violators may face significant penalties, including fines of 7,500 to 15,000 penalty units or imprisonment for 15 to 25 years.
The FDA defined “Food Service Establishment” broadly, encompassing restaurants, bakeries, canteens, online food services, and fast-food outlets. Advertisements across all media platforms, including billboards and social media, must comply with FDA guidelines and are valid for one year, requiring renewal thereafter.
Additionally, media presenters must use FDA-approved scripts when promoting regulated products. The FDA urged the public to report any issues with specific products, such as the Benylin Paediatric Syrup, to its offices, emphasizing the importance of compliance for public health and safety.
Celebrated Ghanaian gospel singer Joe Mettle extended a heartfelt invitation to the nation to join him at Sing Over Ghana 2024, a two-day event aimed at uniting Ghanaians in worship and prayer for the country’s future.
