On the International Front
The latest US hospitality survey, conducted by Mews, reveals intriguing trends reshaping travel behaviors.
Dubbed “hush workcations,” nearly a third of Americans admit to working remotely during vacations without notifying their employers, citing reasons such as enjoyment of work, meeting deadlines, or saving on PTO.
The survey highlights a blending of work and leisure, with many extending work trips into vacations and a majority of working Americans open to remote work from hotels.Additionally, both travelers and hotel workers note a heightened prioritization of travel in 2024 compared to previous years, with an average of 11 trips planned per respondent.
Technology plays a central role, with guests favoring amenities like keyless room entry and digital ordering, while hotel workers anticipate increased technology usage, including more digital check-ins.
This shift towards automation and self-service is evident, with a significant portion of travelers preferring digital check-ins and expressing openness to fully automated hotel experiences.
Overall, the survey underscores the evolving nature of travel, where work and leisure intersect and technology plays an increasingly vital role in enhancing guest experiences.
