‘Notably, the country celebrates the achievements of three groundbreaking projects: Mashatu Terrace, Green Star Africa – Office and Prime Plaza, both recognized with prestigious Green Star ratings.

Mashatu Terrace: A Green Star Five-Star Triumph:

Situated in the heart of Gaborone’s Central Business District, Mashatu Terrace stands as a testament to Botswana’s commitment to green building practices. Certified with a Green Building Five-Star rating by the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA), Mashatu Terrace is a pioneer in sustainable construction. The certification acknowledges the building’s adherence to stringent criteria that reduce or eliminate negative environmental impacts, while also creating positive contributions.

Celebrated on a recent occasion by Time Projects and Wheki (Pty) Ltd, Mashatu Terrace proudly unveiled its Net Zero carbon and Five-Star As-Built rating plaque. This achievement not only solidifies Mashatu Terrace’s status as one of the few certified green buildings in Botswana but also marks it as the first and only Net-Zero Carbon certified building in the country.

The prestigious Green Star Africa –

Office Design v1.1 award bestowed upon the Prime Plaza building project is a testament to the project’s exemplary commitment to green building practices. Conferred by the esteemed Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA), this label serves as a distinctive marker for environmentally conscious structures across Africa. The award is rooted in a comprehensive set of criteria, underscoring the project’s dedication to sustainability from its inception to completion.

Botswana’s Green Building Council (BotGBC) plays a pivotal role in driving the green building transformation in the country.
