SHC unveils legacy court in Accra
State Housing Company (SHC) Limited has officially unveiled Legacy Court, a collection of 40-unit flats located in Adenta, available for public purchase.
These three and four-bedroom apartments were meticulously crafted using SHC’s internal funds, without relying on government financing.
Legacy Court marks the seventh installment in a series of housing developments completed by SHC over the past seven years, aligning with the government’s commitment to fostering eco-friendly living environments.
At the heart of Legacy Court’s design is a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability, notably demonstrated by the pioneering construction of the internal road – a first of its kind in the nation.
The land housing Legacy Court originally belonged to SHC but had been encroached upon by squatters. Thanks to diligent efforts, it was successfully reclaimed and transformed into a thriving residential community.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Minister of Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye, praised the SHC’s board, management, and staff for their remarkable ingenuity, hard work, and unwavering dedication to the national cause, revitalizing a once-faltering company into an admired and enviable entity.
In tandem with the SHC’s provision of upscale housing, Mr. Asenso-Boakye revealed that the ministry is implementing measures, policies, and programs to ensure the creation of more affordable housing options for the people of Ghana.
Notably, he cited the Affordable Housing project in Pokuase, where the government provided land and essential amenities, entrusting five housing companies to construct and offer 8,000 units at affordable prices to the public. This initiative is poised to be replicated nationwide.
Mr. Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, the Managing Director of SHC, expressed gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia for their valuable support and guidance, enabling SHC to achieve financial solvency and independently fund housing projects.
The journey began with developments like Marlo Courts, Club Courts, and Urban Premier Courts in the Greater Accra Region, extending to Kumankuma Estates and Sunyani Estates in the Western North Region.
He further announced upcoming inaugurations of approximately 200 completed homes in the Greater Accra Region, additional estates in the Central Region, the J.A. Kufour Estates in Kumasi, and further developments in Takoradi in the coming months.
