Government reaffirms commitment to completing the Saglemi housing Project

The Minister of Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to finishing the Saglemi housing project.

He underlined that both he and the President reiterated this dedication during the launch of a new housing venture in Pokuase.

Addressing former President John Dramani Mahama’s assertions about the Saglemi project being abandoned, Mr. Asenso-Boakye debunked those claims. He ensured that the government is actively taking necessary actions to revive and complete the project.

Additionally, he revealed that the government is contemplating involving the private sector in the project’s execution to overcome challenges.

The Cabinet held three meetings to assess the project’s complexities and financial hurdles. The consensus was that private sector engagement presents the most viable approach to ensuring the project’s successful culmination.

Government estates in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan area to be redeveloped

The Western Regional Office of the Lands Commission has hinted of a redevelopment package of all three government estates in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan area.

The government estates are in Windy Ridge, Beach Road and Sekondi Ridge.

Dr. Pius Asumadu, the Western Regional Officer for the Commission told the Ghana News Agency, that the rationale behind the redevelopment was to update the local plan, increase the value of land usage, upgrade the infrastructure and increase housing stock to generate more income to the state.

The project fully backed by laws would be executed in line with the Land Use and Spatial Planning Act, Zoning guidelines and Planning Standards, EPA Act and the Land Act.

23 Individuals Accused of Assaulting Kweiman Elders over Land Dispute Granted Bail

An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to 23 young men accused of assaulting Kweiman elders and attacking a palace over the sale of land to a developer.

The defendants were granted bail in the sum of GHc10,000 each with surety by the court presided over by Mrs Afia Owusua Appiah.

The court urged the parties to “attempt settlement” because they all were related and lived in the same community.

All the defendants have pled not guilty to conspiracy to commit a crime, specifically assault and causing damage.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Evans Kesse told the Court that the complainant, Nii Amartey Kwei III, was the chief of Kweiman in Accra.

The court heard that the chief granted land in Kweiman to a developer, which the youth objected to.

DSP Kesse stated that when the grantee and the chief proceeded to work on the land, the accused individuals, who were allegedly armed with offensive weapons, attacked the site, and prevented the developer from working.

According to the prosecution, the young men also went to the palace and assaulted four elders with cutlasses, wood, and metallic objects.

DSP Kesse said the accused persons destroyed 12 plastic chairs and a table all valued at GH800.

Colorado’s housing market is shifting

According to some indicators, Colorado’s housing market is shifting. Real estate experts say the state still has many quality homes that buyers can look into even with mortgage rates higher than they’ve been.

According to the Colorado Association of Realtors in the Grand Junction area, the average home price was just above a US$370.000 with a 23 percent decrease of homes coming to market in the area.

Bray Real Estate says homes sellers that have made improvements to their homes are the ones selling more quickly.
