Ghana’s real estate market picking up CEO of Elegant Homes

Elegant Homes and General Construction Ltd was adjudged the “Best Residential Developer Middle Income Luxurious” at the 2022 Ghana Property Awards.


Elegant homes began operations in 2004 and are into construction, real estate, and everything civil engineering. Over the years, the company has embarked on several residential and institutional properties in the country.


He encouraged the public to come to elegant homes to view their property before deciding to buy property to get a good standard to measure with.

“We are quite particular about our designs, we make sure we build to the taste of our clients, our designs are very different, we try to build very different designs”, he added.


He assured clients Elegant Homes would continue to provide affordable luxury properties, which are very unique.

“ Taking electricity and water to project sites are very expensive, one has to add up all these to the cost and that is why sometimes the price of a property in the country is very high, for instance, there was one time we had to take water and high tension electric poles to our project site, at the end of the day we had to pass on the cost.

Touching on other challenges in the real estate sector, Mr. Quarshie said land acquisition and infrastructure were a huge setback.



“The taxes are too many, we are now paying about 21.9 percent of VAT, we still have corporate taxes to pay, we pay for employee taxes as well, the Government has to do something about it especially when it is not providing infrastructure, we are bringing all these ourselves”, he said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Elegant Homes, also pleaded with the government to introduce some form of tax relief to the real estate sector.




“ If you are going to pay 30 to 35 percent for a mortgage, then it is almost impossible. The real estate market has slowed down a bit but is now picking up, we are gathering momentum after Covid”, he stated.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with PE News in Accra, Mr. Quarshie said considering the high-interest rates banks are charging now it was very difficult for Ghanaians to go for mortgages.


The Chief executive Officer of Elegant Homes and General Construction Limited, Mr. Samuel Quarshie, says the country’s real estate market is getting better, following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector, which slowed down the sector.
