The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have officially announced the extension of operational hours at Prempeh I International Airport (PIA) in Kumasi and Tamale International Airport (TIA), effective June 1, 2025.
This move is part of broader efforts to improve domestic air travel and increase accessibility for passengers traveling between key regions.In a joint statement issued on Sunday, June 1, 2025, the two institutions explained that Prempeh I International Airport will now operate between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM, while Tamale International Airport’s new hours will run from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The changes are expected to boost airline scheduling flexibility and offer travelers more convenient flight options, particularly for evening departures and arrivals.As part of the directive, domestic airlines have been advised to adjust their schedules and increase the frequency of flights to and from both airports to take full advantage of the extended hours. The general public has also been encouraged to take note of the changes and plan their travels accordingly.
The notice emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing aviation infrastructure and promoting regional connectivity across Ghana.

The announcement was made in a press release issued by Kingdom Concepts Consult on behalf of the airline and shared with the Ghana News Agency in Accra.The statement noted that the new route will enhance travel options for Ghanaians heading to the United States by reducing layovers and offering greater convenience.
The Atlanta–Accra service will be operated using the Airbus A330-900neo, featuring Delta One Suites, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin seating.
