Accra’s hospitality landscape has welcomed a new gem with the launch of The Pelican Hotel Cantonments, Accra — a contemporary facility offering a refined mix of comfort, elegance, and the renowned warmth of Ghanaian hospitality.

Following a soft opening, the hotel has already begun attracting attention for its strategic location, thoughtful amenities, and attention to detail. Nestled in the heart of Cantonments — a high-profile neighbourhood known for its embassies, restaurants, and retail outlets — the hotel offers the ideal base for both corporate and leisure travellers.

Just under five kilometres from Kotoka International Airport, The Pelican Hotel ensures a smooth transition for arriving guests, combining accessibility with urban serenity. Its proximity to Accra’s cultural landmarks and vibrant nightlife adds to its appeal.

“We wanted to create a space that truly reflects the spirit of Accra,” said Philippe Hitti, General Manager of The Pelican Hotel Cantonments. “The hotel offers an experience that embodies the world-famous Ghanaian hospitality. The rooms, dining areas, and social spaces are all designed to blend heritage with modernity, while receiving the quality of service that meets international service standards.”

The hotel boasts 134 tastefully designed rooms and suites, some of which come with kitchenettes — a practical option for guests on longer stays. Modern conveniences such as complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, 24-hour room and concierge services, a swimming pool, and a well-equipped fitness centre cater to the modern traveller’s needs.

A key attraction at The Pelican Hotel is its culinary experience. From flavourful finger foods and globally inspired dishes to creative takes on traditional Ghanaian beverages, the hotel’s offerings appeal to diverse palates. The Beak Bistro, the hotel’s signature all-day dining venue, serves a delightful fusion of local and international cuisine. Meanwhile, The Atrium, a serene and elegantly designed lounge, offers a laid-back environment for socialising and informal business meetings.

Evolvin’ Women DMCC and the Africa Centre for Hospitality, Aviation and Tourism (AFCHAT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch the Evolvin’ Women Programme in Ghana. The initiative aims to empower Ghanaian women by providing access to a 12-month training program focused on hospitality, aviation, tourism, and luxury retail.

The training will cover soft skills, etiquette, and cultural awareness, enhancing participants’ employability through an end-to-end talent development platform. Under the agreement, AFCHAT will serve as the local facilitator, while Evolvin’ Women will work exclusively with the institution to implement the program. Both organisations expressed strong commitment to equipping women with skills and confidence to thrive in the global hospitality industry, with expectations of significant and lasting impact.

Veteran comedian and filmmaker Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM) shared that entering old age inspired him and his wife to start a new venture — the Cactus Creek Hotel in Aburi. Speaking on Joy News’ The Career Trail, KSM explained that after years of professional achievement, they sought a fresh challenge in their 60s.

What began as a modest nine-room Airbnb has grown into a full hotel with 20 rooms, a pool, and conference facilities.
He noted, however, that the journey has not been easy, citing challenges with regulatory bodies like the Ghana Revenue Authority and VAT officials, which he described as discouraging.

The world of luxury travel is entering a new era as Four Seasons, the renowned Canadian hospitality brand, prepares to launch its first superyacht — Four Seasons I. Currently under construction by Italian shipbuilding giant Fincantieri, the ultra-luxury vessel promises to redefine opulence at sea.

Spanning 14 decks, the ship will house 95 ocean-view suites, each designed to deliver the signature elegance and comfort associated with the Four Seasons brand. At the pinnacle of luxury is the Funnel Suite, a spectacular four-story residence boasting nearly 10,000 square feet of living space — with a reported price tag of $4.5 million.

With an inaugural voyage scheduled for January 2026, Four Seasons I will cruise some of the most prestigious destinations across the Bahamas, Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. The superyacht offers itineraries starting from $25,000 for a 7-night experience, targeting ultra-high-net-worth travellers seeking exclusivity and unmatched service.

The ship’s features include 11 culinary venues, including fine dining restaurants and a cigar lounge, as well as a sea-level marina with “sea limousines” and water sport amenities for guests seeking adventure or relaxation on the water.

Four Seasons has partnered with Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings and luxury maritime expert Larry Pimentel for this project. The team also announced that a second vessel, Four Seasons II, is currently in the works and expected to launch in 2028, continuing the brand’s ambitious expansion into the luxury cruise segment.

This floating resort not only demonstrates Four Seasons’ commitment to innovation in hospitality but also sets a new benchmark for ultra-luxury travel experiences at sea — blending Italian craftsmanship, Canadian hospitality excellence, and some of the world’s most beautiful coastlines.
