Ghana and Morocco are moving closer to finalising a visa-free travel agreement, a strategic step aimed at enhancing diplomatic relations and deepening economic and cultural ties. Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, revealed that the agreement will soon be tabled before both nations’ parliaments for approval.

This initiative stems from productive engagements between Ghana and Morocco, notably a recent meeting with Morocco’s Ambassador to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil. The visa waiver is expected to open doors for smoother business interactions, increased tourism, and expanded educational exchanges, ultimately boosting investment and trade between the two countries.
As part of these strengthened ties, Morocco has also doubled its annual scholarship quota for Ghanaian students—from 90 to 180—further advancing educational cooperation.

These efforts underline a growing partnership, with tourism emerging as a key area of mutual interest. If approved, the visa-free regime will significantly ease travel and promote cross-border tourism, solidifying both countries’ roles in Africa’s expanding intra-continental travel network.

All international travel by staff of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) has been suspended, except in cases where such travel directly impacts the Authority’s work. Even in such instances, only economy class tickets will be permitted.

This was made known by Professor Ransford Gyampo, chief executive officer of the Authority, during an interview on Adom FM. He explained that these cost-cutting measures are part of broader efforts to help revive the financially constrained organisation.
According to Professor Gyampo, he has personally undertaken low-budget travels since assuming office, and the same standard now applies to all staff, including casual workers, on official trips. These actions are aimed at ensuring financial discipline and sustainability within the Authority.

He added that the move was necessitated by government reforms under President Mahama, which involved mobilising idle funds from various state institutions to support national obligations. The redirection of GSA’s reserves, he noted, left the organisation in a cash-strapped position, requiring decisive leadership to navigate.

Aside from suspending travel, Professor Gyampo revealed that he has also terminated and renegotiated certain contracts, placed staff allowances on hold, and reduced operational expenses.
He criticised the entitlement culture often seen among public office holders and called for a shift toward modest, responsible leadership.

Responding to allegations about purchasing a massaging chair for his office, he dismissed them as baseless propaganda and reiterated his commitment to transparency and frugality. He also clarified that he uses his personal car for social events and only utilises the official vehicle for official duties.

A grand cultural event titled “Experience Ghana: Gateway to Africa” will take place on April 26, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre. Organised by MentraxOro Jewellery, the highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the Ghana Gold Pendant — a proudly made-in-Ghana jewellery piece symbolising national pride, unity, and heritage.
The exclusive, invitation-only event will celebrate Ghanaian culture through music, fashion, arts, and live performances, while promoting the country as a leading destination for cultural and heritage tourism in Africa.

Dubai has officially unveiled Terminal A at Al Maktoum International Airport, set to become the world’s largest airport terminal upon full completion.

Designed to handle up to 260 million passengers annually, the new terminal is part of Dubai’s ambitious strategy to strengthen its position as a global tourism and aviation hub. The multi-billion-dollar expansion includes advanced technologies, luxury retail, and cultural exhibits aimed at enhancing passenger experience. Authorities say this development will not only boost international tourism but also support Dubai’s long-term economic diversification goals.
