A new book exploring Ghana’s tourism potential and strategies for growth, Tourism is Gold… the Path to Ghana, has been launched in Accra.

Written by tourism professor Dr. Damien Duchamp, the book was unveiled at the British Council before industry stakeholders, students, and media. Drawing from decades of experience, Dr. Duchamp examines economic development, hospitality, maker tourism, and technology’s role in shaping the sector.

Structured into 21 chapters, the book blends theory with practical case studies, with 80% focusing on global tourism entrepreneurship and 20% highlighting Ghana-specific examples. Designed for students and industry professionals, it provides tools and exercises to foster innovation and sustainable growth. Dr. Duchamp hopes it will help practitioners refine strategies and maximize opportunities in Ghana’s evolving tourism landscape.

The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited, Professor Kobby Mensah, has announced plans to establish the largest tourism marketplace on the continent.

Speaking on 3FM Sunrise, he said the centralized platform will connect tourists, service providers, and investors globally as part of Ghana’s strategy to become Africa’s top tourism destination.

Prof. Mensah emphasized that the marketplace will serve as a one-stop shop for travelers while boosting economic growth and sustainability. He also revealed ongoing efforts to restore dilapidated tourist sites, profile new destinations, and secure funding to promote Ghana’s rich heritage.

Canada and Ghana have strengthened their aviation ties with a new air transport partnership, enhancing connectivity between the two countries.

The agreement aims to boost trade, tourism, and economic cooperation by allowing more flights and improved services.

This development is expected to create new opportunities for businesses and travelers while reinforcing diplomatic relations.

ITB Berlin 2025 opened on March 4 with a vibrant cultural showcase by Albania, the official host country.

Held at CityCube Berlin under the theme “All Senses,” the event brought together high-level political and industry leaders, including Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner, WTTC President Julia Simpson, and UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili.

The opening ceremony, attended by 2,500 guests, set an optimistic tone for the global travel and tourism industry.

Key figures such as Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama and Messe Berlin CEO Dr. Mario Tobias highlighted innovations and opportunities shaping the sector.
