The 2025 Heritage Month initiative, launched by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, is set to highlight Ghanaian culture and boost domestic travel.
Held at the Labadi Beach Hotel on March 3, the event brought together stakeholders from the creative and hospitality sectors.
Hotels and restaurants have been urged to play an active role in the celebration by incorporating Ghanaian culture into their offerings.
GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto called on hospitality businesses to prominently feature local cuisine and drinks on their menus, enhancing the culinary experience for both locals and tourists. Nightclubs were also encouraged to promote Ghanaian music, while tour operators were advised to package cultural and historical experiences to sustain heritage tourism.
The month-long celebration, which aligns with Ghana’s Independence Day, underscores the economic benefits of domestic travel. With a focus on Made-in-Ghana goods, music, arts, and festivals, the initiative aims to attract investment and strengthen the creative industry.
Culture enthusiasts in Accra are eagerly anticipating the 2025 Akwaaba Festival, set to take place from March 6 to March 8 at the National Theatre. Founded by Joe Osae in 2022, the festival has become a key platform for celebrating Ghana’s cultural heritage.
The three-day event will feature exhibitions and sales of Ghanaian art, crafts, textiles, fashion accessories, local beverages, and a food bazaar, starting daily at 10:00 a.m. Live musical performances, coordinated by MUSIGA’s Greater Accra Secretary, Joe Wizzy, will take place on March 6 and 7, adding excitement to the festival.
Artists such as Bongofari, Friction of VIP, KayBlez, Abochi, Aklerh, and King Soldier are among those set to perform, promising a vibrant showcase of Ghanaian music and culture.
Over 15 local and international artistes are set to perform at this year’s Kuchoko Roots Festival on Saturday, March 8, at La Pleasure Beach in Accra. The festival, dedicated to promoting African Reggae music and nurturing young talent, promises an extraordinary musical experience.
The line-up includes Ghanaian artistes like Knii Lante, Osagyefo, Konkarah Jahvybz, Ton A Hope, JahWi, Aklerh, and Ras Appiah Levi. International stars such as Kenyatta Hill, George Nooks, and Duane Stephenson will also grace the stage.
Blakk Rasta, the headline act, will perform with the Herbalist Band, delivering a set featuring hits like Barack Obama, My African Queen, and Serwaa Akoto. Organisers have assured fans of an unforgettable night of powerful reggae music and conscious lyrics.
LG Electronics showcased its latest hospitality solutions at the HORECA exhibition in Lagos, bringing together key players in Nigeria’s and West Africa’s hospitality industry.
