Deputy Minister nominee for Works and Housing, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, has called for a dialogue on Ghana’s rent control and management system to address ongoing housing sector challenges. During her vetting in Parliament, she emphasized the need for discussions involving key stakeholders, including the Rent Control Department, to resolve rent-related conflicts.

She acknowledged that while the law limits rent advance payments to six months, enforcement remains a challenge as many landlords continue to demand two to three years’ rent in advance. She stressed that sudden enforcement without dialogue could lead to resistance, highlighting the importance of stakeholder engagement to find lasting solutions.
 
The Diaspora Property Expo 2025 is shaping up to be a significant platform for fostering investment in Ghana’s real estate sector, with high-level endorsements and strong institutional backing. With Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang commending the initiative and key international stakeholders expressing interest, the event is poised to create new economic opportunities for Ghana.

The participation of 25 exhibitors from various real estate and property market segments underscores the event’s potential to facilitate direct investment and strengthen trade relations between Ghana and the United States. With Pennsylvania exploring broader economic engagements beyond the expo, DPE2025 could serve as a catalyst for long-term partnerships benefiting both countries.
About 88 out of 618 acres of land allocated to the Takoradi Air Force Base have been taken over by encroachers, posing significant challenges to its operations.

Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukure Atiemo, Base Commander, highlighted the issue during a briefing with Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson, noting that the lack of proper cadastral documentation had contributed to the problem. He stressed the urgency of protecting the land to ensure the Ghana Air Force’s operational effectiveness.

The Base Commander appealed for collaboration with relevant stakeholders to reclaim the encroached land. In response, Mr. Nelson pledged his support and called for stronger coordination among key stakeholders to combat land encroachment nationwide.

Top property management firms, Nedcomoaks Group and UK-based Citadel Estates & Utilities, are set to host the second edition of the ‘Invest in Africa’ summit in London on March 15 and Manchester on March 22, 2025. The summit aims to attract global capital to Africa’s booming real estate sector by bringing together top developers, policymakers, financial institutions, and investors.

Kennedy Okonkwo, CEO of Nedcomoaks Group, emphasized that the summit is a platform for economic empowerment, bridging the diaspora with investment opportunities in Africa. Following the success of its first edition, which attracted over 450 delegates, the 2025 summit promises even greater impact.
