Ghana Dance Festival Marks 10th Edition with Afrolatin Congress and Global Participation

The 10th edition of the Ghana Dance Festival begins with the Afrolatin Congress from August 29 to September 1, 2024. This follows a week of pre-parties at dance clubs in Takoradi, Kumasi, and Accra.
The Afrolatin Congress offers four days of dance experiences, including workshops, parties, performances, and tourism, featuring Salsa, Kizomba, Bachata, and Afro Dance. Highlights include Akwaaba Night at Marriot Hotel on Thursday, a daytime tour of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Accra with a Night Time DJs Party at Kavalli Night Club on Friday, workshops and a Grand Finale performance on Saturday, and a Poolside jam at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Sunday.
Guests will include attendees from Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, Accra, and international visitors from Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa.

The Chale Wote Street Art Festival 2024 has been held in Accra, featuring the “Day of ReMembering” procession in Osu on August 19. Celebrating its 14th anniversary, the festival ran from August 19–25 at Blackstar Square on the theme “And Now An End To The Empire Of Horrors.”
It brought together artists, musicians, dancers, and performers from Ghana and beyond, exploring the Gulf of Guinea’s history and using allegories of gods to reflect on social issues stemming from colonialism.
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched the sixth edition of the ‘December in GH’ events calendar at Castle Gardens in Osu on August 23, 2024.
This year’s festivities will take place across various regions, extending beyond Accra.
The Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Andrew Agyapa Mercer, highlighted the significant economic benefits of both the Year of Return and December in GH initiatives and affirmed the government’s commitment to promoting Ghana as a leading global destination.

The Albena Holiday Village celebrated its 55th anniversary on August 24, attracting 11,000 tourists, primarily from Scandinavian countries.
All hotels in the resort are fully occupied, with a mix of Bulgarian, Romanian, and increased numbers of Scandinavian, French, Czech, and Polish tourists.
The holiday village employs around 2,100 staff, including a significant number of foreign workers. Renovations are planned for several hotels, including upgrades to the Boryana Hotel and the Dobrudja Hotel.
The resort plans to host various events throughout the year and will welcome Austrian pensioners in April 2025. The anniversary celebration featured a concert by violinist Vasko Vassilev, and BTA held a conference and magazine presentation at the resort.
