The 19th edition of the Ghana Party in the Park (GPITP) festival, organized by Akwaaba UK, took place on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Oak Hill Park in Barnet, UK.

This year’s event saw the realization of a significant partnership between Charterhouse, the organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), and Akwaaba UK.

The collaboration provided the 25th TGMA Best New Artiste, King Paluta, and nominee Olive the Boy, the opportunity to perform on this prestigious international stage.

King Paluta, the reigning Best New Artiste of the Year, captivated the crowd with his energetic performance, debuting his hit single “Makoma.” His infectious energy and dynamic stage presence had the audience singing along to his popular tracks, including “Yahitte,” “Sika Abia,” and the inspirational “Aseda.”

The crowd’s ecstatic reaction to his performance underscored his rising popularity and talent.

Olive the Boy, another highlight of the event, showcased why he was a strong contender for the Best New Artiste title. Performing alongside established stars like KiDi, Wendy Shay, Tulenkey, Lasmid, KOTM Beeztrap, and Mishasha, Olive the Boy impressed the diverse audience of approximately 10,000 attendees, which included music industry professionals and enthusiasts from around the world.

Patronage was massive, with attendees showing tremendous support and enthusiasm for all the performers.

The festival was not only about music; it also celebrated Ghanaian culture with performances by the DWP Academy dancers, including Endurance Grand, Lisa Quam, and Quables, who entertained the audience with their exciting dance moves.

For almost two decades, GPITP has been a significant event for the Ghanaian community in the UK, hosting some of Ghana’s biggest artists and drawing thousands of attendees each year.

The exposure gained from performing at such a prestigious event can open doors for collaborations, record deals, and opportunities to perform on even bigger stages.

The successful inclusion of King Paluta and Olive the Boy this year highlights the growing influence and international recognition of Ghanaian music.
