The Ghanaian government is expanding its efforts to address the housing deficit by offering local currency mortgages to public sector employees and construction finance to developers.

This initiative builds upon the success of the National Homeownership Fund (NHF) pilot phase, which involved collaboration with local banks.

Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, announced the expansion during a session with local banks, emphasizing their crucial role in demonstrating the NHF’s potential.

The cedi-denominated mortgage initiative aims to mitigate exchange rate risks for borrowers and aligns with the government’s strategy to enhance access to affordable housing.

The government plans to establish a sustainable mortgage facility for public servants and payroll workers and is involved in housing delivery by providing land, infrastructure services, and tax incentives.

The expansion of the NHF is expected to positively impact Ghana’s housing market by providing relief to public sector workers and stimulating the construction industry. Mr. Oppong Nkrumah urged all stakeholders to work together to realize the vision of homeownership for every Ghanaian, reaffirming the government’s commitment to this goal.

Mixta Africa, a real estate firm, emphasizes the importance of leveraging social media and diverse marketing strategies for success in the industry.

According to their Brand and Marketing Manager, Onome Umukoro, marketing real estate is particularly challenging due to various factors influencing purchasing decisions and the significant capital required.

While social media presents vast opportunities, Mixta Africa advises against solely relying on it to achieve sales objectives.

They advocate for diversifying marketing approaches across multiple channels to effectively convert leads into sales.
