The Shark Islands development in Ada, strategically located near Aqua Safari resort in Ghana aims to provide sustainable living for the diaspora.
With over 50 beachfront units, the focus is on attracting clients, especially Ghanaians and Black Americans abroad, who can generate income through investment.
The eco-friendly approach discourages air conditioning use, relying on sea breezes. Amenities include a fitness center, beauty salon, medical center, shopping center, Wi-Fi hub for digital nomads, and an entertainment hub featuring weekly performances by Nigerian and Ghanaian artists.
Mr. Walker, the developer, emphasized collaboration with landowners and praised the government’s initiatives like the Year of Return. Despite locals showing less interest, he remains optimistic about the potential for diaspora Africans to thrive in Africa.
The project employs over 500 people, focusing on developing more properties accessible via jet cars. Sustainable practices include solar panels, sourcing water from the Volta River, and leveraging technology with cashless payment systems and mobile apps.
Furthermore, the developer has created a global healthcare app, emphasizing remote healthcare services. He encourages those in the diaspora to return and contribute to the country’s development.
The project exemplifies a holistic approach to sustainable development and integration of technology.
