Let’s turn our attention to Nigeria

Residents of the Renaissance Homes Housing Scheme in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, are demanding compensation from First Trust Mortgage Bank Plc for selling properties with defective titles, resulting in their eviction by the Nigerian Airforce.

The residents, facing homelessness since March 1, accuse the bank of gross negligence for not investigating the title it acquired from Vestor before transferring it to homeowners.

The solicitors to the homeowners, AK & CO, sent a notice demanding reinstatement or a compensation of N4 billion.

The bank, denying prior knowledge of the judgement, plans to reclaim the properties through negotiations and legal actions.

The affected homeowners argue for immediate compensation, citing losses, trauma, and business disruptions caused by the eviction.
