Former Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah Denies Undeclared Real Estate Business Allegations
Cecilia Abena Dapaah, former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, has vehemently refuted allegations made by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) that she was involved in an undisclosed real estate business.
The OSP had claimed that she obscured and concealed transactions using aliases, but Dapaah insists there is no evidence to support these allegations.
In an abridgment of time application to the court, Dapaah clarified that she had only sold a property in a representative capacity for her deceased mother, Nana Yaa Ode. She emphasized that she has no undisclosed real estate business.
Public urged to register lands purchased from traditional authorities with the Lands Commission
Mr. Saaka Ahmed Mustapha, the Head of Administration at the Regional Lands Commission in Tamale, has urged the general public to ensure that lands purchased from traditional Chiefs are duly registered with the Lands Commission to prevent potential disputes arising from double sales.
He emphasized that acquiring land from Chiefs does not automatically confer legal ownership.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Tamale, Mr. Mustapha clarified the misconception that acquiring land from a Chief, along with associated documentation, guarantees legal ownership.
He stressed that while Chiefs act as custodians of the land, the authority for land registration rests with the Lands Commission.
He again underscored the importance of prompt registration, explaining that if the initial purchaser initiates the registration process, the second buyer will be unable to register the land, thereby securing the rights of the first buyer.

He highlighted several challenges and circumstances impeding opportunities in the real estate sector, including issues related to land availability, infrastructure, funding, and foreign preferences for construction materials.
He also emphasized the importance of exchange rate stability in managing pricing challenges.
